July 18, 2011

Hello Everyone,

This week has been very good! The Lord has really blessed  us! We actually had two people come to church on Sunday! In some areas that's not really a big deal but I'm telling you its a pretty big deal here haha! Ian came, and he really enjoyed! To be honest i was pretty worried  at the beginning because the first lesson was on Eternal Marriage and I definitely thought Ian might have some issues with marriage haha but he really enjoyed it! We had a good discussion about how in the world people are married till death do you part and how in our church and in our temples we are married and sealed for this life and the next. We even began to talk about how that knowledge affects how relationships with those that we love and how when we realize that we are getting married for not just this life but for eternity it brings more commitment and love into a marriage and that's helps marriages last. It even helped me realize how eternal marriage unifies a family!
Ian has really began to change and its amazing to see someone you started teaching 3 weeks ago become a better more happy person. This gospel really does bring a lot of happiness to people and they don't even realize that they are beginning to change! Nothing too funny has happened this week! Nope Ian didn't yell out hallelujah in church or anything! Haha

p.s Hey family send me more pictures of my new nephew and nathaniel and the rest of the fam!

July 11, 2011

Hey there family,

Its been a good week We had zone conference. We got to basically go around and visit all these different church historical sites and our mission President talked about the history behind each place.

Here are some picture's of  Benbo's Pond where Wilford woodruf baptized a butt load of people and by butt load i mean like two entire villages ! haha its was crazy to be there because its basically in the middle of no where and to think that he taught hundreds of people there is crazy! Because there probably aren't even a hundred people within 20 miles haha!

Also there is pictures of me on top of British camp which is basically a giant hill that they call "mountains" but it is a really sweet view cause you can see the whole area that Wilford woodruff and Brigham Young Preached the gospel in. It is also the place where Wilford woodruff and Brigham Young held a big conference and where they made some big decisions about the work in the area. Most of the Early church  (and by most i mean probably over 80% or more) came from this area! The Welsh were most of the church!

There are also some pictures of Cardiff the capitol of wales! Where we sometimes spend P-days.

We have seen a couple miracles this week but i only have time to tell you about one. So one evening me and Elder Grappi are leaving the flat after Eating some dinner. and we had mad some plans to go stop by and see certain people , it sufficeth me to say that we had already made specific plans for what we needed to do for the evening. However Once we got on out bikes and were getting ready to head out Elder Grappi says i think we need to go see mark. Mark just happens to live up a massive hill in completely the opposite direction we were heading and we had already a scheduled appointment with him the following day so i saw no reason why we needed to go see mark and either did Elder Grappi. BY Mark is an investigator who we met last week who was in prison and now wears a bracelet around his ankle that keeps track of wear he is at and makes sure that he returns back to his home by 8 o clock at night. So Elder Grappi felt like we needed to go by so we did!. When we got there haha the front door was Boarded up so no one could get in or out haha and the whole place was trashed! I'll admit mark is kind of a dodgy character and he also lives in a dodgy place haha but when your a missionary you think your invincible to all danger. So what do mean and Elder grappi do when we see a boarded up front door? what any missionary does when he sees a door, he knocks it. We didn't bike up that flippin hill not to even knock the door. Believe it or not but mark was home and he let us in through the back! TO cut a long story short  he explains to us that the front door is boarded up because he is getting kicked out and he has to leave the property by the end of the night. also that if he doesn't find some where to live then they are going to throw him back into prison. He then tells us he plans on "pinching" aka stealing"  a caravan tonight so that he can live in it so that he wont go back to prison. To be honest his whole story didn't make a whole lot of sense to me but his point was that if he doesn't have somewhere to live he is going back to prison for 4 years, so he plans on stealing to avoid going to prison hahaha Ya i know that makes no sense but this was his thinking process. But he had been praying to ask god to help him haha so god sent us.
Elder Grappi and I took this opportunity to read a few scriptures with him to explain to him that obedience = blessings and that if he trust God he will be OK. Then we promised him if he chooses not to steal that caravan and instead to keep praying he will be OK. He said he would think about it. The next day we got a text from him saying " you guys were right! everything worked out!" he was allowed to live in his place for another 3 weeks!.

I know that God  answered that mans prayer and that God will answer prayers through other people. NO one can doubt that that was just a coincidence. Mark prayed for help god sent us to give him the guidance he needed. When Mark had the guidance he neeeded then he had to make a choice to act and to believe and put his trust in God. He chose to follow god he saw the blessing and now his faith will grow but it wouldnt of grown if he didnt put his trust in God!

Jesus Christ says " will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? If ye will come unto me  ye shall ha eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I recieve; and blessed are those who come unto me."

all have the opprtunity! The choice is your  2 nephi 2:27

Caerphilly's Gang of 6 Year Olds - Juy 4, 2011

Hey fam!

How is everything doing back at home i haven't heard from you guys in a while?! Are you guys enjoying the 4th! Elder Grappi and I are going down to Cardiff today to finally get me a new suit and some shirts that actually fit me Haha! I'm excited to wear clothes that actually fit me!
Elder Grappi and I have had an eventful week. We tracted the farmlands of Wales, taught a pretty awkward lesson with a Ian and we tracted town center with a gang of 6 year old's haha.
It turns out Ian is gay (can't say i am not surprised) So you can imagine what we ended up talking about in our visit with him haha! and after our closing prayer he ended the visit by singing to us a solo from his favorite singer haha he is a pretty good singer I especially liked the emotion he put into the song  I thought he was going to end the song on one knee haha! but no he decided that a few arm twirls would suffice haha! Needless to say it was one of the best and worst experiences on my mission
I guess i'll tell you about the gang of 6 year olds now! So in England they have people called Chaves. Chaves are basically just people that have no jobs ( Dont even bother looking for jobs) Usually heavy drinkers and smokers and live off of the Government! The Government supplies them with all they need, a home and enough money to live. Most of them have also had kids when they are teenagers. Caerphilly has a pretty good amount of chaves especially close to town center. Well i tell you about Chaves because Chaves always have kids and they do not take care of their kids at all. So in the middle of town center we always see this gang of 6 year old kids that are just basically hanging out in the middle of the streets doing whatever they want (causing trouble usually). Well Elder Grappi and I decided one day that we would knock doors in  Town Center. While we do this this big gang of 6 year olds just surround us haha and they just start asking us tons of questions haha! then when we continue to knock doors they started following us haha. pretty soon they started knocking the doors for us haha it was lots of good fun haha. So now when we are in town center we always see the same gang of 6 year olds haha so we always say hi.
This week we are having Zone Conference in the Gadfield Elm Chapel and in August Elder Bednar may be coming to visit us! so I should have some more info to give you guys next time! I've almost got a package ready to send you guys with some gifts and Candy. I'm thinking that they will be your Christmas presents though so you may not be allowed to open it untill Christmas
