December 20, 2011 - Don't be a Spoiled Brat

Well I dont have a lot of time left so all i am going to do is tell you that you better not be a spoiled brat this christmas and not give the Savior Jesus Christ a present this Christmas!
Without him you would even be celebrating Christmas!

Isaiah 53:3 - 7
"He is adespised and rejected of men; a man of bsorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we cesteemed him not. 4 ¶Surely he hath aborne our bgriefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was awounded for our btransgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his cstripes we are dhealed. 6 All we like asheep have gone bastray; we have turned every one to his cown way; and the Lord hath laid on him the diniquity of us all.  7 He was aoppressed, and he was bafflicted, yet he copened not his mouth: he is brought as a dlamb to the eslaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. "

D&C 18:11
"For, behold, the Lord your aRedeemer suffered bdeath in the flesh; wherefore he csuffered the dpain of all men, that all men might repent and ecome unto him."

To come unto Christ is to truely celebrate Christmas!

3 Nephi 17 :20 and 21

"he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And anow behold, my joy is full.
21 And when he had said these words, he awept,"

Your Faith is what brings the Savior Joy!

You guys should CHeck out the new video of the Nativity by the church. It is Awesome
It is called  A christmas Story 2011  IF your typed it in Youtube i think it will come up

December 12, 2011 - The Murderer

Wolverhampton is a pretty good place. The Investigators are flowing like the salmon of capistrana! Elder Clark-Wills and I are Kicking some butt and taking some names everyday. Elder Clark-Wills is this 6'5 semi professional Boxing black man from London and he is woopin this white boy into shape! He has put me on a push-up and pull-up workout program so every day were pumping the fat off our own bodies! Or as KJ might say "Just wait until you see me next christmas"! I wish i could tell you people we are teaching and all that Jazz but the past couple of days of getting settled in have all been a complete blur and i cant tell you who half the people i saw were! The ward here loves Elder Clark-Wills so it sounds like we should be having a good Christmas. I'm trying to settle in with the people here but i dont think i'll ever get as settled in with the ward as i was in Caerphilly! One thing I can say is that i absolutly know without a shadow of a doubt that i am supposed to be serving in this Area. I know that my mission president received revelation that i am supposed to be here and i cant wait to fulfill my calling here!

I recieved information this morning that I have exactly one year left on my mission. Which kinda of sucks cause thats not a lot of time to fulfill the rest of my calling! I'm going to make my year of lasts as effective as possible and even though Elder Clark-Wills is going home this transfer i am going to work him to death!

sorry i didnt send any pictures i will try and remember next week. The church is true but are you true to the church? hmmm? ya think about that one!

 Love Elder J. Weihing

December 8, 2011 - Wolverhampton

Hey Everyone

Sorry i dont have much time to write! So I got Transfered to a place Called Wolverhampton it is just outside of Birmingham. My comp's name is Elder Clark Wills, he is from London. The last couple days in Caerphilly were sad and it was hard to leave but i am sure that my new area will be great! I dont really have much else to say sorry but i should probably go get to work now but i will leave you with my Testimony.

God Lives! Jesus Christ Lives! When the Lord was on the Earth he healed the sick, he healed the broken hearted, he gave the blind sight; And even today the Lord heals the sick, he heals the broken hearted, and he gives the blind sight. The Greatest thing to me about the Resurrection isnt just the Fact that Jesus Christ overcame death; The Greatest thing to me is that because he overcame death he can heal my heart today! He knows each and everyone of us! You will know him if you ask; if you act. Jesus Christ beggs us to let him heal us ;We just need to come unto him; why wont you come unto him so he can heal you? 3 nephi 9:13 "will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? "

November 28, 2011 - Welsh Thanksgiving & The P-Day Climb

Hello Family and Friends,

Well news has got around that my family emails have been kinda lame!( Maegan)! So I'm gonna try and spice this one up with many interesting facts and side notes to explain in detail my many swashbuckling experiences!
I had my first driving lesson The other day. I think that by law you basically have to take at least one driving lesson but anyways it was pretty weird not only driving a car again ( which i haven't done in 11 months now) but also driving on the left side of the road and also having the wheel be on the right side of the car. Plus all the signs here are completely different and they barely even have any traffic lights its mostly just roundabouts! It was definatly what you might call a swashbuckling experience and i think my companion in the back seat was a bit nervous probably cause i didn't act nervous at all and my instructor yelled at me at least five times for speeding! How was i supposed to know there are speed cameras on like every corner and that if you even go 2 miles per hour over the limit they will take your picture! Its alright we made it our of there alive and we'll even be doing round 2 on Thursday!
We decided to climb what they call a Mountain ( really a large hill ) and were disappointed to find that it was too foggy to see anything! They told us that from the top of the hill you can get a sweet view of the sea!
Last Friday was Cam's baptism so that's the picture of Elder Lindsrom and I with those two kids ( the Taylor Family). The Ward here is like my Family and it is really gonna suck to leave them!
We had a Thanksgiving at Avril and Leightons it was awesome that giant red thing that i am hold is what the Brits call a Christmas cracker. you hold one end and have the person next to you hold the other end and then you pull and it pops and out comes a present and a Joke! Ya i know British People of some weird traditions! So next week i probably wont be emailing until like Tuesday or Thursday because of transfers. Which i am like 98% sure i am getting transferred! I'll Probably have to serve in England as well!

OK so I realized this Email is kinda boring so i guess I'll tell you a story...............

So there we were! It was MId autumn day, the leaves were falling as they tend to do in autumn time except for British autumns last like 2 days until all the leaves are just gone! But anyways there we were! Just knocking some doors as missionaries tend to do! I,  being a Eagle Scout and always being prepared, was carrying a backpack ( rucksack in British) full of pamphlets about the plan of salvation and restoration.I like to hand out the pamphlets when we tract( knock doors). Well anyways there we were knocking doors! We start talking to this guy and to be honest i cant even remember what we talked about nor what he even looked like all i can remember is the whole time we were talking i kept receiving the prompting to give him a plan of salvation pamphlet. But me being a stubborn prideful man was using my own wisdom and based on what he was talking about decided that he needed to know about the restoration not the plan of salvation! so i reach into my backpack and find a restoration Pamphlet.       Pause!

Now at this point I absolutely knew without a shadow of a doubt that when i reached into that rucksack i grabbed a restoration pamphlet and i knew that what was in my hand and what i was giving him was a restoration pamphlet!

Now unpause  he says a couple more words and then i hand him the pamphlet! But the pamphlet that he received from me was a Plan of Salvation Pamphlet!! Not a RESTORATION! Ah man it was crazy! i almost pooped my pants after that!

Haha man I'm glad God helps me with this work haha cause i do some stupid things sometimes! God was gonna teach that guy the Plan of Salvation weather i liked it or not! haha no one can stop this work  not even the weak kids who preach it all across the world. Makes me feel better knowing as long as i do my best things work out! God is Real and that was a Miracle! Maybe if you guys are good and send me lots of letters this month I'll share and even cooler experience!

November 21, 2011 - Vanilla Chocolate

Not too exciting of a week this week guys. just continue to find people and teach everyone once in a while. no ne too solid yet but don't worry there will be. Good news though, today i bought a recorder so and i have already learned half of the song "Sweet Hour of Prayer" I'll basically  be a pro by the time i come home. So that i can woo all the women with my sweet musical sounds from the recorder!I haven't come up with an awesome name for my recorder yet though so if you have any suggestions please email them too me so far the only one I can come up with is "Vanilla Chocolate"!

So I don't have any sweet stories to lay down this week but i decided to tell you I nightmare I had a couple weeks ago. Soin my nightmare we were teaching one of the Elect of God a lesson Called the Word of Wisdom ( you may of heard of it).  Ya well there me and my companion were just sitting in her living room teaching the lesson when my companion begins to tell her how it is against the word of wisdom to eat cheese and begins to pull out a chart of different types of cheeses! He starts going through the whole chart and explains that blue cheese isn't against the word of wisdom but mozzarella is. So i run in there and start arguing with him and telling her that its not against the W.O.W you can eat as much cheese as you want, but she wasn't believing me she was believing him and then I woke up in a pile of sweat and tears! WOOOO! IT was a terrible nightmare!
Its OK though cause i learned a great lesson from it! We can look into any commandment we want. We can try and find loop holes and whats allowed and whats not allowed. The commandments give us a line and we can try to get close to the line all we want.... but lets face it , it's just better to stay as far away from that line as we can get!

Thanks for the letters grandma and Matthew! and to the rest of you..............

November 14, 2011

Well it has been very good week guys, Elder LIndstrom and I are going to bike up to a village called Rudry today and then we are going to see if we can find a herd of sheep up in the hills and then we are gonna try and ride them. Well atleast I am haha i dont think Elder Lindstrom wants to try it. Its basically the way the Welsh people Slap the Bull! I dont really have any cool stories to tell you guys this week sorry! So hopefully next week i will have some cooler pictures of the Welsh Hills and lots of Sheep!

Oh the picture of that tank thing is this weird thing that they do in Britain. THey stick their feet in this tak with these little fishes and the fishes eat their dirty feet and clean them off! Its flippin Weird!

November 7, 2011 - Remember Remember the 5th of November!

Hello family and friends,

Saturday was the fifth of november a day of fireworks and bomb fires! I was able to experience the best firework show i have ever seen in my entire life! Caerphilly Castle is the Best!
Oh by the way i never told you guys but a couple weeks ago Elder Lindstrom and I got pulled over by the coppers! We were running late for an appointment so had to bike on the dual carriage way ( basically a freeway) In the middle of the night! Oh ya and i forgot to mention that we forgot our bike lights hahaha! Ya that copper wasnt too happy, he was really chewing us apart. to be honest it was quiet annoying seeing as how the longer he talked to us the more late we were going to be. God didnt really want us to be late though so he decided to send our bishop. Bishop Jones " luckily" " just happened" to be driving on the same free way and saw that we were be pulled over by a cop. so he pulled over, calmed down the policeman, and gave us a ride to the appointment. We got to the appointment it time! dont worry we didnt get a ticket.
That picture i sent of the long piece of ice cream thingy. thats what the Brits call a Vieneta! And if God made anything better then he kept it to himself! Its basically heaven divided with thin pieces of chocolate! I decided to take one step thought and crammed it all into a glass and poured rootbeer into it. What i call a vieneta float. ( no they dont have rootbeer in britain and if you do find any it taste terrible, but i was able to get some quality A&W rootbeer from the martyn family)

October 31, 2011 - Baptism's and Transfers

Hey Guys,
Sorry I didnt write last week but the power went out so when i
was in the middle of the emailing thing the computer just shut off. I
was tempted to come back towards the end of P-day to see if the
computers came back on but i decided to go into town center and get a
proper english pasty at a place called Greggs instead. Its alright i'm
sure you guys understand i Love you :)! Greggs is the bomb though we
need to get one in Utah!
So Cogratulations to me i got transfered to a place called
Caerphilly in  Wales and my new companion's name is Elder
Lindstrom!..................................................................That
was a test to see if you guys actually read all my emails because if
you really did you would know i've been serving in Caerphilly Wales
for 6 months now and you would also know that I have been serving with
Elder Lindstrom for like 3 months now! So i didnt get transfered!
Which is very good news! So me and Elder Lindstrom get to kick some
serious butt for another transfer! ( yes missionaries sometimes say
the word butt, they make sure to repent later for it though).
The baptisms went super duper, the spirit slapped all of us in
the face nurmerous of times! Sam's arm was sticking out of the water
while i was baptising her though so i basically had to drown to get
her to go all the way down in the water! She already told you that
though on my blog. ( another test to see if you have even looked at my
blog). Oh and the other baptism picture of the Little Girl is Amelia
or as we call her Millie. She is the bomb and asked Elder Lindstrom
and I to be witnesses at her baptism! Her and her family are some
pretty cool cats. Well i dont have much more to tell you except happy
Birthday PoPs!

October 17, 2011 Baptism Saturday

Looks like Kenneth and I will be baptising on the same day! :)

I will be baptising Sam on Saturday and Elder Lindstrom will be baptising Jaqueline then on Sunday Elder Lindsrtom will confirm Sam and I will confrim Jaqueline. I will also most likely be my last sunday in Caerphilly :( ! Hopefully i am able to stay in Wales though because it such an awesome place!
So the other night we decided to knock a few doors to try and invite people to a marvelous choir concert that we were having! We must of picked a street with an Elect of God on it or something because Satan put some pretty nasty people in our path! Everyone at the door was just incredibly rude and just kept attacking us! Then we met a whole group of Born Again Christians! They were the biggest Jerks ever we were just talking to them all friendly and they just came at us with Guns a blazing making fun of our beliefs and this and that. Boy did i want to bash the heck out of them and humble them to the earth but their hearts were not sufficiently softened. So after the Born again admitted to us that he was going to pray with all his heart that not one person would listen to us and that he will do his best to keep us here talking to him all night instead of preaching the gospel Elder Lindstrom told him he would have to stand at the Judgement bar of God and stand accountable for what he has done and then we walked away. It was pretty frustrating but you get used to those situations and do your best not to bash with them because i cant convince them and prove to them that what we teach is true all we can do as missionaries is do our best to help them feel the spirit and let it convert them! The spirit is a pretty cool thing!
Missions = Happiness thats all i can say. It may not make any sense to you but if you experience it you would agree with me a mission is pure happiness and alot of work and worry but still pure happiness. Never been happier and never been stronger.

2 Corinthians 12:10
"  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. "

October 10, 2011

Well i forgot my camera so too bad no photos this time!

We got good news and bad news. Good news Jaq and Sam are still set for baptism on the 22nd and Jaq has asked me to confirm her at church the next day which i'm incredibly nervous for! Jaq is loving the church, she even cried durning the hymm at church the other day because she was so happy haha! She is funny, she is the perfect proper british lady; she is so polite! Even Greater news is that she is getting married as well in January at our chapel! Now all we need is her fianc'e to get baptised as well and we can take her to the temple next year! She is the best, and we are going to be life long friends so she better get used to me! Sam Is doing good as well After teaching her all the commandments i think she is going to be ready for the 22nd as well! It is gonna be a bomb baptism and we're hoping to slap everyone there with the spirit!
The church is true! Jesus is the Christ and Thomas is the Monson!

October 5, 2011 - Rain Finally

Hello Family,

Works going great in the good old country of Wales! Its is finally raining again! It was a dreadful week without one cloud! That was my first week without any rain since like may! My companion isnt too happy about the rain though

Conference was pretty awesome! by the way there is a video on with a few pictures from our mission on lds.org.  Go to 'menu', then 'news and events' at the very bottom is an article about Elder Bednar's assignment in Europe. It's all about when he came to visit us last month.

Works good! Church is True! Sam is obeying the word of wisdom and preparing for baptism on the 22nd and so is Jack! Sam is also now wanting to go visit utah in april and see General Conference haha! I'm going to make sure she goes to meet you guys! Funny that we could just knock on her door one day and then become life long friends! I havent written any letters in a while sorry about that the last couple p-days have been a little crazy but i'll try to write some next monday!

I am the one 2nd to the left standing up

September 26, 2011 - Caerphilly is Super Duper

Wales is the best and serving a mission in Wales is the best! Jack is still good for her baptism! She loves the Gospel and i think she is really looking forward to hearing the Prophet and Apostles speak this week! All of you in Utah don't even realize how luck you are to just turn on the TV and see a prophet of God or to walk outside and see 5 temples or to be able to drive 30 minutes and see temple square and the conference center. People here cant even believe that! They think Mormons are the people that grow horns on their heads and eat their own children! Sam just barely realized that Mormon are normal people haha! she now watches TV and says hey that person could be a Mormon!
Last week was a fantastic week! Sam works at the cinema's and she even got me some Popcorn from the cinema's! Its probably one of the best gifts i ever received in my whole life! Elder Lindstrom and I are kicking some serious butt here in Caerphilly and were gonna get this ward to do missionary work whether they like it or not haha! We planned out a pretty crazy idea for ward council this Tuesday but i think it's crazy enough to work! Instead of sitting in the stupid meeting talking about missionary work we are going to divide the ward council into pairs and then go into the town and have them handout pass along cards! Haha they aren't going to like the Idea but hey there isn't anything that we can say that they haven't heard already about missionary work so we are just going to go out and do it instead of talking about it!
Love you guys! If you got any other crazy ideas for me that you think might be a good idea to try let me know cause I'm always looking for new ways to find people!

September 19, 2011 - Bedydd! ( Baptism in Welsh)

  Hello family and friends,
Before i explain the baptism part I'll explain some of the pictures that me and Elder Lindstrom in front of an old welsh post office in St. Fagans.( yes i am wearing a sweet Ninja Turtle shirt). The other one is a picture of me with a peasant! occasionally you will be walking down the street and see someone that looks kinda wrinkly and is missing and a few teeth and you'll think I'll bet that person's ancestors were peasants but i actually got to meet a real one so i got a picture with him.

We have been teaching a lovely lady named Jaqueline! Well we have been teaching her for the past couple weeks and she has been doing really really well she loves prophets she loves the church she is just super duper. Well she accepted a baptismal date on October 21st! Thats kinda a big deal! Sam (the lady with a daughter that we are teaching) has decided to take the stop smoking program this week! Hello Sam if your reading this! I hope she is ready for a mind blowing lesson!

September 14, 2011 - The Welsh Sea with an Apostle

Those are the pictures from our wondrous P-day Expedition last week! The work is going super duper Caerphilly is exploding with people wanting to be taught pretty soon we are going to have to create a waiting list!   don't really have much to say nor time to tell you, me and Elder Lindstrom are going to go hit up a place called saint Fagans and hopefully eat some spotted dick after ! haha we aren't really going to eat some spotted dick after I just wanted to say that because it seems to go so well with the place called saint. Fagans haha  apparently though spotted dick taste really good i want to try it some sometime, it is some sort of Desert!

I will tell you a pretty great experience though just because i love you guys and its kind of a big deal. I got to meet an Apostle of God! Elder Bednar came to visit the great country of Britain! why else would they call it Great Britain. It was an amazing experience i shook his hand and everything and there were security people all over the place and they even locked up the whole chapel and everything! We  basically got to sit there for 3 hours and ask him questions! I cant say that he said anything spectacular or that he did anything special but there was something special when he taught us! That was because he truly taught with the power of the Holy Ghost. It was a powerful,l Powerful 3 hours I felt like i learned so much. I really understand how i can learn from the Holy Ghost now! 4 hours after i met with him i still was overcome with the spirit and i was still learning thing,s i don't know how to explain it. But i do have a duty to tell every single one of you that i know that he is truly a prophet seer and revelator and i know that through the power of the holy ghost because it truly did overcome me when i was in his presence. There was nothing special about him he was and is a man but he has something with him that no other man besides an apostle has. I am your brother your son or your friend and i would not lie to you and if you were here i would stare you right in the eye and tell you that i know that there are prophet seers and revelators on the earth today that speak the words of God, I met one and I pray upon reading these words you will feel the Holy Ghost tell you these things are true. For I felt the Holy Ghost tell me they were true when i met a prophet of God. Elder Bednar is an ordinary man with an Extraordinary calling!

September 5, 2011 - Interesting Food!

teulu bore da,

Well i've eaten some weird food this week! Oh and we are teaching some solid investigators now so Caerphilly is turning into a Gold Mine of souls prepared for the Gospel! It has been a heck of a lot of work though!
So i'll start off with the weird food! The black thing is what the Brit's like to call Black Pudding. Which is dried pigs blood! To be honest it doenst taste to bad! The other thing we ate was an African dish called Sudsa> You have to eat sudsa with your hands! you basically just grab a handful of mazemeal and then grab a handfull of that green crap! The green crap is peanut butter mixed with cooked vegies and the other thing is just meat. so those are some of the interesting things i've eaten.
We are teaching a lady named sam and her daughter brioney who will probably be baptized! and a lady named jackie who already had read half way through the book of mormon sorry now i got to go and see the ocean!

August 30, 2011

Lots of good stuff going on back home! how is Mom going to babysit all the new babies thats what i want to know? I think Kenneth will have to help haha! That lucky punk!
Well all though its the beginnings of a long dark winter here in wales the Investigators are blossoming like spring is in the air! I'm happy to announce that we have recently found 2 elect and chosen and specially prepared souls of God! Elder Lindstrom tracked into one of them will i was working in Cwmbran ( cumbran, a W in welsh makes a sorta U sound) for the day. She had already been reading the book of Mormon! We met with her today and she was quiet excited to hear that there is a prophet on the Earth today and she was even more excited to find out that she could hear him speak on the Internet! IF only we were all that excited to hear from the prophet of God! We then tracked into another women who asked us all the Golden questions like where do we go when we die why do we experience such bad things in our life and how can she know that there even is a God! We taught her and it went super duper and she even has an 11 year old daughter so hey sound like a potential of 3 baptisms here! Which an absolute Miracle! Besides the Baptism last year then there hasn't been a baptism here in donkeys years!

Well i don't have much more to say besides that you guys need to keep writing me!

August 22, 2011 - Beth sydd i fyny deulu! thats Welsh!

Beth i fyny!

Now you know how weird welsh looks! Its a very hard language and to be honest everyone here speaks English so there is no real point in learning it! My companion has had a hard time understand the welsh accent though haha its funny its like they are speaking another language to him. He's been in England his whole mission
Boy is it great having an American Companion again! Elder Lindstrom and I are just tearin in up here in wales! ; kicking some butt taking some names, AKA preaching the Gospel with power and authority!
The other day we got into the usual bible bash at the front door and Elder Linsdtrom bore a powerful testimony to the guy and i followed up with double testify that the book of Mormon is the word of God! Boy was it powerful! and the guy just went dead silent! So then i testified again since he decided he was going to start listening haha and i told him that the only way he can be with his daughter for Eternity is by following the Gospel of Jesus Christ! But the stubborn man still said no! and shut the door in our face! so then me and Elder Lindstrom went dust off our feet hahaha JK JK!
Seriously though it is the best feeling in the world to look at someone straight in the eye and say the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it will tell you what you must do to gain peace in this life and the next haha you guys should just all go on missions its the best!
Last p-day we went inside the Carphilly castle which was super duper! So i attached some flippin awesome pictures! What's crazy, is that sweet thing is just lying around in the center of the village! it makes for  great place for street contacting! I may buy some souvenirs of the castle and bring them home for you guys! but only because i love you guys! Hey take care of all my nephews and soon nieces! and show them pictures of me so they know what i look like! You think i am kidding!

Adios ( that is Spanish for goodbye), Hwyl fawr ( thats welsh for goodbye)

August 15, 2011

No worries guys there are no riots in the small villages of Wales to be honest i don't even really know whats going on with all that stuff its probably all over now. That just shows how much we know about whats going on in the world! I've heard that the police killed some drug lord or something like that so all the Chaves in the country are destroying things is that true?
Well i have a new companion names elder Lindstrom he is from Payson Utah ha ha and he still has his full on accent ha ha! He sounds like such a hick ha ha. The good thing is that he knows quiet a bit about fixing bikes so he's shown me a few things so i can fix most of the normal problems with my bike. The hard part is just going to be able to find the time to do it!
We may have found some potential golden investigators! so hopefully you will be hearing about a couple upcoming baptisms! To be honest it would be a miracle for me to baptize before i left Caerphilly! I really think it will happen though! plus i have a felling that if i don't get transferred next transfers then i will be here until Christmas! Turns out I'll probably be a welsh missionary most of my mission!
Funny experience: Ian (gay investigator) came to church this Sunday and boy is he a box full of laughs! ha ha he is so out of control! and what do you think happened to be the lesson? THE LAW OF CHASTITY!!! This guys is so awkward ha ha lets just say he often has some very inappropriate comments even when we aren't teaching the law of chastity so you can imagine what this was like ha ha. so we walked in to the lesson and Ian hadn't arrived yet and we announced to everyone that was there that Ian was going to be here today ha ha and they all at the same time moaned ha ha and said great! the lessons on the law of chastity! ha ha so everyone was luckily prepared for the bumpy ride! It was defiantly one of the best church classes I've been too! Ian debated with a lot of things and brought up some pretty weird/ awkward stuff ha ha that I'm not even sure I'll mention in my email ha ha but he ended up calling out a 19 year old kid in the class and asked him"have you had sex?"  then when the kid said no he was like " what that's weird!" ha ha oh man it was funny you just should of been there luckily they skipped the part about homosexual relations! who knows what would of happened.

bye

Hey guys i'm gonna keep this letter short and sweet cause i want to go and enjoy the wonderous blessings of P-day!

Elder Gräppi and i were not tranfered! Last sunday right  before church Bishop sent us a text and asked one of us to speak in sacrament so how do me and Elder Gräppi decide which one of us has to speak? I heated game of Rock Paper Scissors! In which i sadly lost! So i ernded up having to speak in sacrament.

I would try and tell a sweet story but Kenneth already kicked my butt with the action hero climbing out a 4 story window to save a damsel in distress. Kenneth how am i supposed to top that one?! You need to tell boring stories so all the normal missionaires dont feel so bad when they just talked to a man sitting on a park bench who seemed somewhat interested in the Gospel! I say that because that was my highlight of the week haha! Seriously it was! I felt strongly prompted to talk to this man sitting on a park bench smoking a fag( aka cigarette, i just like to call it a fag for emphasis). So i talked to him and he said " kind of funny you would come talk to me right now,  I just found out my wife wants  a divorce and she is kicking me out of the house and none of my kids want to see me again, and i dont have a job! I have been praying to god today to show me a sign and also to tell me what i should do, then you show up right now of all the times" It was pretty cool for me haha haha maybe next week i'll save someone from drowning in the Welsh rain!

July 18, 2011

Hello Everyone,

This week has been very good! The Lord has really blessed  us! We actually had two people come to church on Sunday! In some areas that's not really a big deal but I'm telling you its a pretty big deal here haha! Ian came, and he really enjoyed! To be honest i was pretty worried  at the beginning because the first lesson was on Eternal Marriage and I definitely thought Ian might have some issues with marriage haha but he really enjoyed it! We had a good discussion about how in the world people are married till death do you part and how in our church and in our temples we are married and sealed for this life and the next. We even began to talk about how that knowledge affects how relationships with those that we love and how when we realize that we are getting married for not just this life but for eternity it brings more commitment and love into a marriage and that's helps marriages last. It even helped me realize how eternal marriage unifies a family!
Ian has really began to change and its amazing to see someone you started teaching 3 weeks ago become a better more happy person. This gospel really does bring a lot of happiness to people and they don't even realize that they are beginning to change! Nothing too funny has happened this week! Nope Ian didn't yell out hallelujah in church or anything! Haha

p.s Hey family send me more pictures of my new nephew and nathaniel and the rest of the fam!

If your reading this, The Martin Family, thanks so much for the Post Card. I hope the trip to Cornwall was awesome! Happy birthday Meg, hope you had lots of fun! Miss ya guys

July 11, 2011

Hey there family,

Its been a good week We had zone conference. We got to basically go around and visit all these different church historical sites and our mission President talked about the history behind each place.

Here are some picture's of  Benbo's Pond where Wilford woodruf baptized a butt load of people and by butt load i mean like two entire villages ! haha its was crazy to be there because its basically in the middle of no where and to think that he taught hundreds of people there is crazy! Because there probably aren't even a hundred people within 20 miles haha!

Also there is pictures of me on top of British camp which is basically a giant hill that they call "mountains" but it is a really sweet view cause you can see the whole area that Wilford woodruff and Brigham Young Preached the gospel in. It is also the place where Wilford woodruff and Brigham Young held a big conference and where they made some big decisions about the work in the area. Most of the Early church  (and by most i mean probably over 80% or more) came from this area! The Welsh were most of the church!

There are also some pictures of Cardiff the capitol of wales! Where we sometimes spend P-days.

We have seen a couple miracles this week but i only have time to tell you about one. So one evening me and Elder Grappi are leaving the flat after Eating some dinner. and we had mad some plans to go stop by and see certain people , it sufficeth me to say that we had already made specific plans for what we needed to do for the evening. However Once we got on out bikes and were getting ready to head out Elder Grappi says i think we need to go see mark. Mark just happens to live up a massive hill in completely the opposite direction we were heading and we had already a scheduled appointment with him the following day so i saw no reason why we needed to go see mark and either did Elder Grappi. BY Mark is an investigator who we met last week who was in prison and now wears a bracelet around his ankle that keeps track of wear he is at and makes sure that he returns back to his home by 8 o clock at night. So Elder Grappi felt like we needed to go by so we did!. When we got there haha the front door was Boarded up so no one could get in or out haha and the whole place was trashed! I'll admit mark is kind of a dodgy character and he also lives in a dodgy place haha but when your a missionary you think your invincible to all danger. So what do mean and Elder grappi do when we see a boarded up front door? what any missionary does when he sees a door, he knocks it. We didn't bike up that flippin hill not to even knock the door. Believe it or not but mark was home and he let us in through the back! TO cut a long story short  he explains to us that the front door is boarded up because he is getting kicked out and he has to leave the property by the end of the night. also that if he doesn't find some where to live then they are going to throw him back into prison. He then tells us he plans on "pinching" aka stealing"  a caravan tonight so that he can live in it so that he wont go back to prison. To be honest his whole story didn't make a whole lot of sense to me but his point was that if he doesn't have somewhere to live he is going back to prison for 4 years, so he plans on stealing to avoid going to prison hahaha Ya i know that makes no sense but this was his thinking process. But he had been praying to ask god to help him haha so god sent us.
Elder Grappi and I took this opportunity to read a few scriptures with him to explain to him that obedience = blessings and that if he trust God he will be OK. Then we promised him if he chooses not to steal that caravan and instead to keep praying he will be OK. He said he would think about it. The next day we got a text from him saying " you guys were right! everything worked out!" he was allowed to live in his place for another 3 weeks!.

I know that God  answered that mans prayer and that God will answer prayers through other people. NO one can doubt that that was just a coincidence. Mark prayed for help god sent us to give him the guidance he needed. When Mark had the guidance he neeeded then he had to make a choice to act and to believe and put his trust in God. He chose to follow god he saw the blessing and now his faith will grow but it wouldnt of grown if he didnt put his trust in God!

Jesus Christ says " will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? If ye will come unto me  ye shall ha eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I recieve; and blessed are those who come unto me."

all have the opprtunity! The choice is your  2 nephi 2:27

Caerphilly's Gang of 6 Year Olds - Juy 4, 2011

Hey fam!

How is everything doing back at home i haven't heard from you guys in a while?! Are you guys enjoying the 4th! Elder Grappi and I are going down to Cardiff today to finally get me a new suit and some shirts that actually fit me Haha! I'm excited to wear clothes that actually fit me!
Elder Grappi and I have had an eventful week. We tracted the farmlands of Wales, taught a pretty awkward lesson with a Ian and we tracted town center with a gang of 6 year old's haha.
It turns out Ian is gay (can't say i am not surprised) So you can imagine what we ended up talking about in our visit with him haha! and after our closing prayer he ended the visit by singing to us a solo from his favorite singer haha he is a pretty good singer I especially liked the emotion he put into the song  I thought he was going to end the song on one knee haha! but no he decided that a few arm twirls would suffice haha! Needless to say it was one of the best and worst experiences on my mission
I guess i'll tell you about the gang of 6 year olds now! So in England they have people called Chaves. Chaves are basically just people that have no jobs ( Dont even bother looking for jobs) Usually heavy drinkers and smokers and live off of the Government! The Government supplies them with all they need, a home and enough money to live. Most of them have also had kids when they are teenagers. Caerphilly has a pretty good amount of chaves especially close to town center. Well i tell you about Chaves because Chaves always have kids and they do not take care of their kids at all. So in the middle of town center we always see this gang of 6 year old kids that are just basically hanging out in the middle of the streets doing whatever they want (causing trouble usually). Well Elder Grappi and I decided one day that we would knock doors in  Town Center. While we do this this big gang of 6 year olds just surround us haha and they just start asking us tons of questions haha! then when we continue to knock doors they started following us haha. pretty soon they started knocking the doors for us haha it was lots of good fun haha. So now when we are in town center we always see the same gang of 6 year olds haha so we always say hi.
This week we are having Zone Conference in the Gadfield Elm Chapel and in August Elder Bednar may be coming to visit us! so I should have some more info to give you guys next time! I've almost got a package ready to send you guys with some gifts and Candy. I'm thinking that they will be your Christmas presents though so you may not be allowed to open it untill Christmas

June 27, 2011

Hey Family,

We Finally have a legit investigator! After an entire transfer of finding, we have a soul interested in getting baptized! Boy is he gonna be a lot of work though! Haha. We found him at a bus stop and he is very sincere guy. Very blunt as well! If he wants to say something he'll straight up say it if it offends someone or not it doesn't matter! His name is Ian.
You dont know how many Ian and Garraths I have met in Wales! It gets pretty confusing when you look at the list of potential Investigators and half the list is full of Ians of Garraths! Can't Welsh people come up with a little more creative names!
So we had one lesson with Ian and we were barely able to teach him anything! He just blurts out question after question and goes off on all these tangents about this and that! He is more of "free spirit" type of guy haha It is ok though cause now that we're more aware of the situation we will be more prepared this time. He decided to come to church with us though. It was pretty exciting exactly what i needed since i havent had an investigator come to church with me in 6 weeks!
We had some members pick him up for church and when they came in they hurried in frantically to find us and urgentally informed us that he is smoking a cigarrete on Church grounds! Haha the members walking into church were a little uptight when they passed by a man smoking a fag next the entrance to the church. Haha the primary kids looked a little confused as well! I figured they should be happy that he is coming to church but assured them we would inform him at our next lesson that he needs to smoke off of the Church grounds.
The first lesson was Priesthood. In which we talked about keeping the sabbath day holy. Then we had gospel principles. IN all of these classes, Ian the free spirit, had many quesions and was very bluntly honest if he disliked any of the teachings haha! then we had my personal favorite the sacrament. Before sacrament we explained to Ian that at this time we dont talk or ask questions we just listen. In Sacrament meething The Stake President talked. In his talk He basically rebuked the whole congragation about being reverent in church and in sacrament. In his talked he mention how the church wasnt theirs and that it is the Lords. The Whole congregation was in complete silence and reverence while they were being rebuked! Haha so of course during this time Ian loudly yells out to the Stake President, In the middle of his talk, A comment/question about how tithing. Haha we were shocked haha and so was the stake president. He handled it well though and just answered Ian and then continued with his talk. OH it was so funny/awkward.
Maybe the Free spirit will have a baptismal date in the next letter, take care everyone! make sure to write me!

Hey family,

I got the package thank you so much! The Spaghetti O's are already almost gone! I am getting a package ready to send you guys pretty soon sorry if the candy in it is kind of old haha i bought it like 3 months ago. I bought you guys a bunch of Wales stuff and i got all my nephews and potential nieces some welsh teddy bears! I got to reamain the favorite uncle! Does Nathaniel still want to go to England on his mission?
Transfers was this week that is why i am emailing on a wednesday. I am still serving with Elder Grâppi and my new district leader is a german speaker as well. President sure like to surround me with Germans. Nothing too special has happened this week. We have just been doing tons of service for people because everyone here in Caerphilly is so hard hearted thats the only thing they will allow us to do! haha We even are helping a man build a cement shed in his backyard. We actually taught an investigator this week! Too bad he is leaving to visit his wife in thailand for 7 weeks now though. Our teaching ppol is slowly growing i see a good chance of a baptism next transfer which is good.  we are slowly softening the hearts of the people.
It has been raining a lot! Its so great if you guys see any water proof socks but them for me that would be really nice! A water proof scripture case would be nice as well! Its good to hear everything is going good with the family! Just remember God has given us all these blessings! Dont Forget to write me! it's weird to think i have almost been out for 6 months now! this is going way too fast!

Hey family and Friends,

Wales is beautiful! I Even found out that some of the events of the Olympics next year is going to be in Cardiff which is like 15 minutes away from here. We go to Cardiff to do some shopping on P days, Its a big city and close to the sea. I have some sweet pictures but this computer is kinda weird and wont download them so i will have to send them another time.
I looooooove being a missionary! My Companion is awesome he speaks Swis-German so sometimes his English gets a little mixed up! the Other day we were knocking doors in a posh neighborhood and this guy answered the door and he said he doesn't have time to listen to us because he is watching his kids. So my companion seeing such a great opportunity to teach this soul who is dwindling in unbelief says to him " have you ever wondered where babies come from" hahaha! I Couldn't hold it in and i just busted up laughing right there on the doorstep! My Companion then explained that he meant the souls of the babies  not where they physically came from haha
Well the work is interesting here in Caerphilly haha hope everyone  is doing good  sorry my emails are so short but hey i got more important things to be doing then emailing all day! love ya guys

May 30, 2011 - Punched in the Face!

Hello Family and Friends,

People in Caerphilly do not like missionaries haha. I'll be honest Elder Grappi and I go into some pretty dodgy places where a lot of rough people live.( AKA Ghetto's)

One such day me and elder Grappi were just riding our bikes talking to those lucky few that we saw on the streets; When Elder Grappi and i decide to talk to a man letting his 3 year old daughter out of the back seat of his car. He being the typical welsh man was very rude and said some pretty horrible things that i cant say. As i begin to ask him if there is anyone that he knows of that would be interested in our message his dog jumps on Elder Grappi's leg. Elder Grappi was worried it was going to bite him so he kind of kicked it away. Then all of the sudden i see the man cock back his arm and punch Elder Grappi right in the face!!! Now i wish at his point i could say that me and ELder Grappi dropped our bikes on the floor and kicked this guys butt ......but no that's not what happened at all because we are missionaries so we just sat on our bikes and stared at the man as he grabbed his dog and little daughter and walked into his house while yelling some more horrible horrible things to us! Elder Grappi's face is fine haha luckily the man who punched him was kind of out of shape and a really bad aim so it wasn't a really good punch.

So Caerphilly is a little bit more rough compared to peaceful Hereford. We are working really hard talking to everyone we see praying always and i have faith that pretty soon something big is going to happen, Because Elder Grappi and i are working are very hardest we just need to be patient. And I know the lord didnt' call me here to plant seeds he called me to teach and to baptize. There is  at least one person in all of Caerphilly that is prepared for me by the Lord and my Job is to seek out and find that person. I'm no planter I'm a hunter!

Don't lose your faith family! I love you guys! The Lord will provide, but only if you trust him! Miracles are brought by faith!

"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him"

May 16, 2011 - I Loooooooooove Being A Missionary

Hey everyone,

I loooooooooooooooove being a missionary! Caerphilly is beautiful, the people are wonderful when they don't throw hamburgers at us, and the Gospel is true! It rained almost everyday last week and boy was it fantastic! There really is something magical about a welsh rainfall! But I'll be honest i do miss Hereford! Everyone who is from Hereford that is reading this pat your self on the back cause you guys are cool!
Caerphilly has some dodgy area's haha there a lot more chaves ( punks) here then there were in Hereford. But Me and Elder Gräppi are still kicking some trash taking some names! We are working super duper hard. We talk to absolutely every person we see even if the person is pretty dodgy haha ... it makes for some pretty interesting experiences. There are no real investigators yet but we got a lot of potential next week so we will see. Plus i know that God prepares people to meet missionaries so as long as we work as hard as we possibly can God will do the rest. I do miss everyone back home but i promise you guys I'm doing my very best out here and I'm the happiest I've ever been.

I put on some pictures of some of the people in Hereford, Elizabeth, Mark( who just had a baby yesterday!!! ) The Hissy's, The Martins, and the Henry's

I'm gonna miss em! But i expect letters from the update me whats going on

May 12, 2011 - New Address! I've Been Moved To Wales!

Hello everyone!

I am now serving in a different country! You probably never realized that my mission covers two countries, England and Wales. Wales is flipping Awesome and i am serving in the most beautiful village in Wales it is called Caerphilly pronounced Ca-filly. Everytime i look at it though i think of a caterpillar. I cannot believe the amazing views they have here. There is Even a Castle in the center of the village with a moat around it and everything it is actually the second biggest castle in Great Britain. Its so beautiful Like seriously if you are reading this right now google Caerphilly castle and look at some of the pictures cause i'll bet they are amazing. Sorry i have some brilliant pictures but i forgot to bring my camera so i'll send them next week.

My companions name is Elder Gräppi he is from Switzerland and he is the man! Ya he doesnt quiet get my humor yet but he will with time. I think me whistling Jingle Bells when we bike in the rain is starting to get on his nerves Haha. they only have one investigator here i believe but there is some real potential for some big things to happen. Plus thats how Hereford was before i got there and then we had 3 baptisms! So Hey time to do it again! Me and Elder Gräppi are about to kick some serious butt and take some names! OH p.s Elder Gräppi's accent sounds so funny

Hey sorry i didnt get to talk to you guys very long but hey i am only supposed to take 45 min. oh and guess what kj! that watch you got me broke the next day! it just fell right off my hand!  oh and fam i forgot to tell you in packages you should send me CD's Church Music and any cool Piano Music or Violin Music or just instrumental. I can listen to basically any thing that is church related or is Disney Music or that is Instrumental. Elder Schmidt had some stuff from the New England Orchestra that was quiet nice.

May 3, 2011

I'll keep this one short since i'll be talking to you guys on sunday. Thats gonna be awesome but eh dont expect an english accent. Amy Martin has been trying to help me with it but its no where near good enough yet actually to be honest it sucks and usually she just laughs at me whenever i try.
OH by the way i'm kind of thinking i will be transfered next week, shich is very sad. To be honest i really really do not want to leave. I'm really gonna miss Hereford, its like my home now. I hope that there is a pirate in my next area! what am i gonna do without sister Henry to sew up all the trousers that i rip ( pants in England means underwear). Let it be known to all people who have never been  to England, Hereford is the best , they have the most beautiful counrtyside but most of all they have the best people i've ever met. I will miss them. Fam, i hope one day you guys can meet all these great people! Except for the pirate i dont think he will be too friendly , unless you bring him a new dog.

i know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and i glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but i glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps i may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

Please write me, love,

April 19, 2011 - The Wedding & Future Baptisms

Hello family, friends, and people that my dad send this to ( sorry if you dont even know who i am, my dad sometimes gets carried away and forwards my emails to every person on his contact list, I wont be offended if you just immediatly erase this email)

Hey everybody so last saturday was marks Wedding and it went super great. I was a little disappointed because he didnt choose me to be his best man but eh i guess the important thing is that he is now married and is now able to get baptized this saturday! I should be happy though because they did request that they get a picture with the missionaries after the wedding. The weird the is that the next wedding Elder Schmidt attends will probably be his own haha cause he goes home in a couple months

Marks getting baptized this saturday, Elizabeth a 16 year old girl is getting baptized on the 7th of may. Yes she is only 16, flirt to convert really does work haha! just kidding she is getting baptized for the right reasons dont worry guys!

Dad thanks for checking out all the possible women for me to date when i get back by the time i get home i expect my wife already picked out. my address is below tell them to write me it will help me increase my Chick Post. Every missionary loves his chick post. its the only thing we are allowed to brag to the other missionaries about. The other missionaries dont know that i count grandma post as chick post as well!  thanks for the letters every week grams!

April 12, 2011 - Mission Football

Hello family, friends, and significant others,

Yesterday was the semi-annual mission footbal of the England Birmingham Mission (also known as Earth's Best Mission).Parents, you will be happy to know that you gave birth to a winner! Our team, the Cheltnam Pink team, destroyed all teams that stood in our paths. Sorry i would send pictures but i'm an idiot and i forgot to take my camera with me! we had the football tournament in Cardiff. Basicallyh the whole mission took a p-day and gathered together to play football(soccer). Each zone was assigned a color and then we played a football tournament. We got assigned pink, so yes we had to walk through cardiff wearing pink. Thats ok though cause we still won and thats all that matters.

Cardiff is gorgeous! it is in the heart of wales! so there are lots of green hills and i even got to see a castle! its called cardiff castle look it up on the internet its pretty sweet.

Mark is going to be baptized not this saturday but the next week and Elizabeth is going to be baptized on the 7 of may! so the work is going very well in Hereford thanks to the Lord, to be honest he does most the work for us, we just obey. the sad part is that i probably will be leaving Hereford at the end of this transfer, which will be a sad day. Maria and her daughter still arent on a baptismal date! i'm a little dissapointed in them but we are teaching them tonight so maybe we'll slap them with the spirit and they'll agree to being baptized! Its frustrating for me sometimes haha people say they want peace and happiness we tell them its possible if you do this and then they dont do it. people sometimes dont make sense. Its ok i'm learning a bit of patience

I dont know what else to write so i will tell you guys of a funny experience me and Elder Jenkins had that i never told you guys about. SO one day our bishop told us " Hey last summer we did a service project, and a documentry camera crew filmed us.They are doing a documentary on hereford culture and how we need to work together as a community. They interviewed me and i cant go you two should go because there will be a lot of people there and you can meet them and talk about the church with people!" Me and Elder Jenkins thought it was a good idea because it would give us a chance to talk about religion in the community and stuff..... well boy were we in for a shocker! Turns out Bishop didnt exactly get the whold story on what the documentary was about. Me and Elder Jenkins turn up and it ends up being like a Gay/lesbian/Tranvestite convention thingy Hahaha. me and Elder Jenkins were like on the third row and the whole documentary was basically interviews with gays and transvestites. At the end people were given the opportunity to talk and it was pretty weird! people were giving us some weird looks. after there was like a much and mingle thing where everyone gets to meet everyone that was interviewed . Most missionaries probably would of just went home after that but hey me and Elder Jenkins werent going to leave without getting some free food! It was a pretty funny experience but now i have to go so see ya later and dont forget to write me!

April 5, 2011 - I Miss Home........ NOT!!

               hey guys,
I Miss Home.......................NOT!!!!!!!!!!! HAHA Sorry this will probably be a small letter but My new companion Elder Schmidt is great! i forgot to get a picture of him so i just decided to take a picture of him this morning when he was brushing his teeth. He knows English really well probably as good as me. He is a pretty cool guy we are working well together. Marks baptism is in two weeks and we are talking to Maria and Rebecca about baptism tonight and they have been thinking about it. We are teaching our first lesson to a 17 year old girl on wednesday. Her name is Elizabeth, she is friends with a girl in the ward and she has come to church twice now. March 31, 2011

Hello family, friends, and other people my dad decide to send this to,

A very busy eventful week! Elder Jenkins got Transferred to Derby pronounced Darby.  It was sad to see him leave, very sad. Me and him were like to Peas in a Pod and yes in those pictures we are wearing the same tie. But before i get to that let me tell you a pretty awesome experience me and him had before he left! So gather your ears/eyes!

So there we were on a dark and dreary night. actually it was about mid-day and it was actually pretty sunny and warm! Me and Elder Jenkins were just walking into town when a man approached us. I recognized the man, i couldn't remember if we talked to him before but we walk around so much i figured we had seen him at least once before. Oh and he was a bum...... meaning he doesn't really have a home he just walks around town center and doesn't have a Job. His accent was super thick as well it was like something off of my fair lady! .....He started talking to us and basically just explained that he was a member of the church and that he hasn't gone for about 22 years. He was really nice and he walked with us and talked with us for a little while mostly cause he smokes and drinks and doesn't feel worthy. He kept telling us that he has gone to other churches and stuff but he just knows that our church is true and that we were men of God. He then said that he was in a church a couple nights ago and the priest was basically going around giving people blessings and the bum refused a blessing from the priest and so the priest just kept giving him an evil stare or something. HE then asked us if we could give him a blessing right there on the street Hahaha! so Me and Elder Jenkins took him around the corner to the Black Friar Monk Monastery ruins( that's the last two pictures of that giant cross with some old ruin monastery in the back ground). We sat down with him on a park bench across from the Monastery and taught him.....we taught him about Jesus Christ and his Atonement. Then me and Elder Jenkins gave him a blessing on a park bench. It was the first blessing i have ever given to someone on my mission. It was a pretty special experience, the spirit was powerful. I never felt the spirit work through me like it did in the middle of that blessing, I heard myself say stuff i didn't even think about.

My new companions name is Elder Schmidt! He is from Eastern Germany! He belongs to a communist country. So yes, I have a communist for a companion!!  His accent is pretty strong but he speaks good English, he has taken English for 10 years. He has got a very German personality hahah! Its gonna be weird switching up companions like this cause elder Jenkins was a major dork and so am i so it worked out but Elder Schmidt is like the opposite! I'm a little nervous so if you want to write me a letter this week it may help. I got to go sorry! write me! hope everything is going good!
